Following his time in Kansas City, LaCoss revitalized his career with the San Francisco Giants beginning in 1986. He spent five seasons with San Francisco and contributed to the 1987 NL West championship and 1989 National League pennant-winning clubs.

LaCoss pitched parts of 14 Major League seasons with the Reds, Astros, Royals and Giants, finishing with 98 victories and more than 700 strikeouts.
