Featuring Merv Rettenmund with the Cincinnati Reds, this Merv Rettenmund autographed 1974 Topps #585T Cincinnati Reds card is a traded-player variation from the 1974 Topps set. Card #585 was originally issued showing Rettenmund with the Baltimore Orioles, while the #585T version reflects his offseason trade to Cincinnati.

Rettenmund reached the Major Leagues with the Baltimore Orioles in 1968 and became a valuable outfielder and right-handed hitter for one of baseball's strongest clubs. He appeared on three consecutive American League pennant-winning teams from 1969 through 1971 and was a member of Baltimore's 1970 World Series championship club.

His finest individual season came in 1971, when Rettenmund batted .318 with 146 hits, 23 doubles, 11 home runs, 75 RBI and a .422 on-base percentage. He helped Baltimore win 101 games and a third consecutive American League pennant before facing Pittsburgh in the World Series.

Baltimore traded Rettenmund to the Cincinnati Reds following the 1973 season, beginning a three-year stint with the Big Red Machine. He contributed primarily as an outfielder and pinch hitter and was part of the legendary 1975 Reds team that won 108 regular-season games and defeated the Boston Red Sox in the World Series.

Rettenmund played 13 Major League seasons with the Orioles, Reds, Padres and Angels, appearing in four World Series and earning championship rings with Baltimore in 1970 and Cincinnati in 1975. The 1974 Topps #585T is an appealing addition for Reds collectors, Merv Rettenmund fans, Big Red Machine collections, traded-player variation collectors or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
