Featuring former Major League pitcher and 1980 World Series champion Marty Bystrom, this Marty Bystrom autographed 1985 Topps #284 New York Yankees card showcases the right-handed pitcher during the final chapter of his Major League career, following several memorable seasons with the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Philadelphia Phillies selected Bystrom in the fourth round of the 1975 MLB Draft out of Coral Park High School in Miami, Florida. He spent several seasons developing through Philadelphia's minor league system, including time with the Spartanburg Phillies, before earning his opportunity in the Major Leagues.

Bystrom made his Major League debut on September 7, 1980, joining Philadelphia during a closely contested National League East race against the Montreal Expos. Despite having no previous Major League experience, he immediately became one of the Phillies' most valuable late-season contributors.

In one of the most remarkable September performances in franchise history, Bystrom compiled a 5-0 record with a 1.50 ERA in five starts. His outstanding pitching helped Philadelphia secure the National League East championship and provided a tremendous boost to the club heading into the postseason.

The Phillies defeated the Houston Astros in a dramatic five-game National League Championship Series before advancing to face the Kansas City Royals in the World Series.

Bystrom earned the starting assignment in Game 5 of the 1980 World Series against Kansas City. Philadelphia ultimately defeated the Royals in six games, capturing the first World Series championship in franchise history.

Following his memorable rookie season, Bystrom remained part of Philadelphia's pitching staff throughout the early 1980s. His experience as both a starter and relief pitcher provided the Phillies with additional pitching depth as the club continued competing in the National League.

Bystrom was also with Philadelphia during its 1983 National League championship season, when the Phillies defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Championship Series before falling to the Baltimore Orioles in the World Series.

After his years with Philadelphia, Bystrom joined the New York Yankees organization, bringing his Major League experience to one of baseball's most historic franchises. His time with New York marked the final stage of his playing career.

The 1985 Topps #284 features Bystrom in his New York Yankees uniform and showcases the recognizable design of Topps' 1985 baseball card release. The set is known for its colorful team-name lettering, prominent player photography and clean layout that remains popular among collectors of 1980s baseball cards.

For Yankees collectors, the card represents a pitcher whose professional career included an important role in Philadelphia's first World Series championship. It also provides an opportunity to collect Bystrom in a different uniform from the Phillies cards that represent most of his Major League career.

Bystrom's Major League career concluded in 1985. Although his time in the Major Leagues was relatively brief, his exceptional September 1980 performance and contributions to Philadelphia's championship team remain memorable accomplishments.

The 1985 Topps #284 is an appealing addition for Marty Bystrom fans, New York Yankees collectors, Philadelphia Phillies championship autograph collections, vintage Topps enthusiasts or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
