Luis Polonia Autographed 1996 Fleer #306 Atlanta Braves Card

This card was issued immediately following Polonia's memorable contribution to the 1995 World Series Champion Atlanta Braves. After beginning the 1995 season with the New York Yankees, Polonia joined Atlanta for the stretch run and appeared in 28 regular-season games for the Braves, batting .264 with 14 hits, seven doubles and three stolen bases.

Polonia became particularly valuable during Atlanta's postseason run. Across the 1995 playoffs, he batted .316 with six hits and seven RBI in 12 games, helping the Braves advance through the Rockies and Reds before facing Cleveland in the World Series.

His performance in the 1995 World Series gives this 1996 Fleer card additional significance. Polonia went 4-for-14 (.286) with a double, home run, four RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base during the six-game series. Atlanta defeated Cleveland to capture the franchise's first World Series championship since moving to Atlanta.

Polonia later returned to the Braves during the 1996 season after spending much of the year with Baltimore. He was outstanding in his brief regular-season return, going 13-for-31 for a .419 batting average in 22 games, and once again appeared in the postseason as Atlanta captured another National League pennant.

Over a 12-year Major League career, Polonia developed a reputation as a productive contact hitter and speedy outfielder, finishing with 1,417 hits, 728 runs scored, 321 stolen bases and a .293 career batting average.
