Add a signature from a member of the Baltimore Orioles' 1983 World Series championship team with this Lenn Sakata autographed 1982 Fleer #178 Baltimore Orioles baseball card, available from Under the Radar Sports Promotions.

Lenn Sakata enjoyed an 11-season Major League career from 1977 through 1987, playing for the Milwaukee Brewers, Baltimore Orioles, Oakland Athletics, and New York Yankees. A versatile infielder who primarily played second base and shortstop, Sakata earned a reputation as a dependable defensive player and valuable contributor during his years in the American League.

Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Sakata became one of the notable Hawaiian-born players of his generation. He began his Major League career with the Milwaukee Brewers in 1977 before joining the Baltimore Orioles during the 1980 season. His versatility and willingness to contribute in multiple roles made him a useful member of manager Earl Weaver's roster.

Sakata was part of the 1983 Baltimore Orioles team that captured the American League East Division title, defeated the Chicago White Sox in the American League Championship Series, and won the World Series over the Philadelphia Phillies. His contributions as a reserve infielder helped provide depth to a championship roster that included Cal Ripken Jr., Eddie Murray, Jim Palmer, and Rick Dempsey.

One of Sakata's most memorable Major League moments came on August 24, 1983, during an extraordinary game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Forced into emergency duty as a catcher, Sakata was behind the plate when Toronto successfully stole second base three consecutive times in the tenth inning. Baltimore then intentionally walked the next two hitters before Tippy Martinez picked all three runners off first base. In the bottom of the inning, Sakata delivered a dramatic walk-off three-run home run to give the Orioles a remarkable victory.

Following his playing career, Sakata remained involved in professional baseball as a minor league manager and coach, sharing his experience with younger players and continuing his contributions to the game.

The 1982 Fleer #178 card features Sakata in his Baltimore Orioles uniform during the early years of his tenure with the club. The 1982 Fleer set is recognized for its clean white borders, colorful team-name graphics, and classic player photography, making it a favorite among collectors of early-1980s baseball cards.

Signature obtained through a private signing conducted by Under the Radar Sports Promotions and guaranteed to pass any third-party authentication service.
