Over parts of 15 Major League seasons, Parrish accumulated 1,789 hits, 256 home runs and 992 RBI while playing primarily for the Expos and Rangers, with a final Major League stint for the Boston Red Sox. He later continued his professional career in Japan before moving into coaching and managing.
