The 1983 Donruss #345 Larry Christenson features the veteran right-handed pitcher with the Philadelphia Phillies during the club's National League championship season. Personally autographed by Christenson, this card represents a homegrown Phillies pitcher whose entire Major League career was spent in Philadelphia and who contributed to one of the most successful eras in franchise history.

The 1983 Donruss set was the company's third full baseball card release and featured the distinctive glove-and-ball design surrounding its player photography. Christenson's #345 is a classic early-1980s Donruss issue and an appealing companion to his Topps and Fleer cards from the same period.

Philadelphia selected Christenson third overall in the 1972 MLB Draft out of Marysville High School in Washington. His rise was remarkably quick, as he reached the Major Leagues in 1973 at just 19 years old and soon became a regular member of the Phillies pitching staff.

Christenson's best individual season came in 1977, when he went 19-6 for a Philadelphia club that won 101 games. The performance established his career high in victories and helped the Phillies capture their second of three consecutive National League East titles from 1976 through 1978.

He was also part of the Phillies team that made franchise history in 1980. Philadelphia defeated Houston in a memorable NLCS and then Kansas City in the World Series, capturing the first World Series championship in Phillies history.

This 1983 Donruss card comes from another pennant-winning season. The veteran-laden Phillies captured the 1983 National League East title, defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS and advanced to the World Series against Baltimore. Christenson was part of the pitching staff, connecting him to both Philadelphia's 1980 World Series championship and its 1983 National League pennant.

Christenson also distinguished himself as an unusually capable hitter for a pitcher. He finished his career with 11 home runs, including three during his outstanding 1977 campaign.

Christenson spent his entire 11-year Major League career with the Phillies, winning 83 games and pitching for multiple postseason clubs. His one-team career and connections to both the 1980 and 1983 pennant winners give this autographed Donruss issue strong appeal for Phillies collectors.
