Larry Bowa Autographed 1982 Donruss #63 Philadelphia Phillies Card

Featuring Larry Bowa with the Philadelphia Phillies, this Larry Bowa autographed 1982 Donruss #63 Philadelphia Phillies card showcases one of the franchise's most accomplished shortstops near the conclusion of his outstanding tenure in Philadelphia.

The Phillies signed Bowa as an amateur free agent in 1965, and he made his Major League debut in 1970. Despite going undrafted, Bowa developed into one of the National League's premier defensive shortstops, earning recognition for his exceptional glove work, quickness and competitive intensity.

During his years with Philadelphia, Bowa earned five National League All-Star selections and two Gold Glove Awards. In 1979, he established a then-Major League record for shortstops with a .991 fielding percentage, further solidifying his reputation as one of baseball's finest defensive players.

Bowa played a central role in the Phillies' success throughout the late 1970s, helping Philadelphia capture three consecutive National League East titles from 1976 through 1978. His leadership and defensive consistency remained important as the franchise pursued its first World Series championship.

That breakthrough came in 1980, when Bowa helped the Phillies defeat the Kansas City Royals in six games to capture the first World Series championship in franchise history. He batted .375 during the World Series, collecting nine hits and providing steady defense at shortstop throughout the championship run.

Following the 1981 season, Philadelphia traded Bowa and young infielder Ryne Sandberg to the Chicago Cubs in exchange for Ivan DeJesus. Although the 1982 Donruss #63 depicts Bowa with Philadelphia, the card was issued as he was beginning the next chapter of his playing career.

Bowa completed 16 Major League seasons with 2,191 hits and 318 stolen bases. He later returned to Philadelphia as manager from 2001 through 2004, extending his association with the organization.

The 1982 Donruss #63 is an appealing addition for Philadelphia Phillies collectors, Larry Bowa fans, 1980 World Series championship collections, early Donruss enthusiasts or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
