Add a sharp early-1990s Upper Deck issue from the final season of Juan Samuels Dodgers tenure with this 1992 Upper Deck #195 card featuring Samuel with the Los Angeles Dodgers, personally autographed by the three-time MLB All-Star. Samuel is correctly cataloged as card #195 with Los Angeles.
The 1992 Upper Deck set contains 800 cards and was released in two series, with cards #1-700 comprising the Low Series and #701-800 forming the High Series. Samuels #195 is therefore a Low Series issue. The release continued Upper Decks reputation for premium production with crisp full-color photography, full-color card backs and the company's anti-counterfeiting hologram.
An interesting feature of 1992 Upper Deck is that cards can be distinguished by how they were originally distributed. Pack-issued cards carry a silver-foil hologram on the reverse, while factory-set cards have a gold-foil hologram, creating two production versions of Samuel #195 for collectors pursuing especially detailed player runs.
The set also contains a strong assortment of rookies and prospects, including Manny Ramirez, Jim Thome, Kenny Lofton, Pedro Martinez, Brian Jordan and Shawn Green, along with numerous subsets and insert programs. Upper Deck even randomly inserted 2,500 Ted Williams autographed cards into Low Series foil packs, an ambitious certified-autograph promotion for the period.
Samuel's #195 comes from the final season of his tenure with Los Angeles. His Dodgers years included a career highlight in 1991, when he earned his third MLB All-Star selection and his only All-Star appearance as a Dodger.
