The 1992 Pinnacle set marked Scores entry into the premium baseball card market. The complete set contains 620 cards divided evenly into two 310-card series, with Samuels #99 appearing in Series One. Pinnacle offered collectors upgraded production quality and a much darker, more sophisticated visual presentation than Scores regular flagship cards.

Samuel is correctly featured as a Los Angeles Dodger on card #99, positioned between Jose Guzman #98 and David Justice #100 in the checklist. The card comes from the final season of Samuels tenure with Los Angeles, following his 1991 campaign in which he earned the third All-Star selection of his career.

One of the more unusual features of the inaugural Pinnacle set is found on the card backs. Score incorporated an anti-counterfeiting code along the bottom border, and collectors could use a specially produced ribbed plastic detector to reveal the hidden Pinnacle identification. It was an ambitious security feature for a baseball card release at the time.
