Juan Samuel Autographed 1989 Topps Major League Leaders Minis #29 Philadelphia Phillies Card
Add a distinctive mini-sized Topps issue to your Juan Samuel collection with this 1989 Topps Major League Leaders Minis #29 card featuring Samuel with the Philadelphia Phillies, personally autographed by the three-time MLB All-Star.
The 1989 Topps Major League Leaders Minis set consists of 77 cards measuring approximately 2 1/8" x 3", noticeably smaller than a standard baseball card. The cards feature color photography surrounded by large white borders, with yellow backs containing the player's 1988 and career statistics. Unlike many of the boxed retail sets Topps produced during this period, the Mini Leaders were distributed in seven-card packs.
Samuel is card #29 in the set and represents the Philadelphia Phillies. The checklist was built around prominent players and statistical standouts of the period and includes stars such as Nolan Ryan, Tony Gwynn, Rickey Henderson, George Brett, Wade Boggs, Roger Clemens, Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco.
Samuel was an excellent choice for a set celebrating the game's statistical leaders. His speed was one of his defining attributes during his Phillies career, highlighted by 72 stolen bases as a rookie in 1984 and four consecutive seasons with at least 35 steals from 1984 through 1987. His combination of speed and extra-base power made him one of Philadelphia's most exciting players of the decade.
