Own an autographed 1987 Fleer League Leaders #38 baseball card personally signed by Juan Samuel, featuring the dynamic Philadelphia Phillies second baseman during the prime of his career. This distinctive Fleer issue highlights Samuel as one of the National League's standout performers and provides an appealing alternative to his regular 1987 Fleer card.

The 1987 Fleer League Leaders set was issued separately from Fleer's regular flagship release and featured many of baseball's leading stars and statistical standouts. The compact checklist and emphasis on accomplished players made the set a popular specialty issue of the era. Card #38 features Juan Samuel with the Philadelphia Phillies, recognizing a player whose combination of speed, power, and extra-base ability had already made him one of the National League's most dangerous offensive threats.

Samuel burst onto the Major League scene as Philadelphia's regular second baseman in 1984, batting .272 with 15 home runs, 69 RBIs, 19 triples, and 72 stolen bases. His 72 steals established a Phillies single-season record at the time, while his 19 triples led the National League. His spectacular campaign earned Samuel his first MLB All-Star selection and a second-place finish in National League Rookie of the Year voting.

Samuel continued to establish himself among the league's top speed threats over the following seasons. He led the National League in triples again in 1985 with 13 and entered 1987 having already accumulated 168 stolen bases in his first three full Major League seasons.

The 1987 season would become one of Samuel's finest, as he batted .272 with career highs of 28 home runs and 100 RBIs, while adding 15 triples and 35 stolen bases. His performance earned him his second National League All-Star selection and further demonstrated the unusual combination of power and speed that defined his career.

A three-time MLB All-Star, Samuel enjoyed a 16-year Major League career and finished with 1,578 hits, 161 home runs, 396 stolen bases, and 102 triples. He later returned to the Phillies organization as a coach, extending his association with Philadelphia well beyond his playing career.

Personally signed by Juan Samuel, this 1987 Fleer League Leaders #38 is an outstanding specialty issue featuring one of the Phillies' most exciting players of the 1980s.
