His finest offensive season came in 1982, when Lowenstein batted .320 with 24 home runs and 66 RBI in just 122 games. He followed with another productive season in 1983, hitting .308 with 15 home runs as Baltimore captured the American League East title and advanced to the World Series.

Lowenstein contributed to the Orioles 1983 World Series championship over the Philadelphia Phillies, homering in Game 1 of the Fall Classic. Baltimore won the series in five games, giving Lowenstein a World Series championship during his seven-season tenure with the Orioles.

Originally a first-round selection of the Cleveland Indians in the 1968 MLB Draft, Lowenstein played 16 Major League seasons with Cleveland, Texas and Baltimore.
