An early card of one of the premier defensive catchers of his generation, this Jim Sundberg autographed 1975 Topps #567 Texas Rangers card features Sunny near the beginning of a Major League career that would span 16 seasons. The colorful 1975 Topps set remains one of the decades most recognizable releases, with its distinctive two-tone borders and bold team-name design.

Sundberg reached the Major Leagues with Texas in 1974 and quickly established himself as the Rangers regular catcher. Remarkably, he made the jump to the majors after playing only a brief period in the minor leagues. By 1975, Sundberg was already handling the bulk of the catching duties for Texas and developing the defensive reputation that would define his career.

That reputation eventually resulted in one of the most impressive defensive runs by a catcher of his era. Sundberg won six consecutive American League Gold Glove Awards from 1976 through 1981 and earned three All-Star selections. His durability behind the plate was equally notable, as he caught at least 130 games in six different seasons.

After more than a decade with Texas, Sundberg joined the Kansas City Royals and became an important part of their 1985 World Series championship team. His biggest moment came in Game 7 of the American League Championship Series against Toronto, when his bases-loaded triple helped propel Kansas City to the pennant. He then served as the Royals primary catcher during their seven-game World Series victory over St. Louis.

Sundberg finished his 16-year Major League career having caught more than 1,900 games, spending the majority of his career with the Rangers while also playing for Milwaukee, Kansas City and the Chicago Cubs. As an early issue of a six-time Gold Glove winner and eventual World Series champion, the 1975 Topps #567 is an appealing addition for Texas Rangers collectors, Jim Sundberg fans, vintage Topps set collectors or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
