Born on September 22, 1955, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Jeffrey Leonard began his professional baseball career in the Baltimore Orioles organization before making his Major League debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers on September 2, 1977.

Leonard later joined the Houston Astros, where he established himself as a productive Major League outfielder. His combination of power, speed and defensive ability helped him develop into an everyday player before joining the San Francisco Giants.

In April 1981, Leonard was traded to the San Francisco Giants, beginning the most memorable chapter of his Major League career. He quickly became an important part of the Giants' lineup, providing right-handed power and a strong presence in the outfield.

Leonard enjoyed one of his finest seasons in 1984, batting .302 with 21 home runs and 86 RBI. His outstanding offensive performance earned him his first National League All-Star selection, establishing him among the league's most productive outfielders.

Known to baseball fans by the nickname "HacMan," Leonard developed a reputation for his confident personality, powerful swing and distinctive home run trot. His style made him a memorable figure during an era filled with colorful Major League personalities.

Leonard's most celebrated season with San Francisco came in 1987, when he helped lead the Giants to the National League West championship and their first postseason appearance since 1971.

During the 1987 National League Championship Series against the St. Louis Cardinals, Leonard delivered one of the most memorable individual performances in postseason history.

He hit four home runs during the seven-game series, including home runs in four consecutive games, setting a National League Championship Series record at the time. His extraordinary performance earned him the 1987 NLCS Most Valuable Player Award, despite the Giants ultimately losing the series to St. Louis.

Leonard's postseason home run celebrations, particularly his distinctive one-flap-down trot around the bases, became an unforgettable part of the 1987 NLCS and contributed to his reputation as one of baseball's most entertaining personalities.

The 1988 Topps #570 features Leonard in his San Francisco Giants uniform and showcases the familiar design of Topps' 1988 baseball card release. The set is recognized for its clean white borders, colorful team-name lettering and large player photographs.

The card represents Leonard following his remarkable 1987 postseason performance, when his four home runs against the Cardinals made him one of the most talked-about players in baseball.

Leonard continued his Major League career with the Milwaukee Brewers and Seattle Mariners, completing a 14-season career that included more than 1,400 games.

Over his Major League career, Leonard collected 1,432 hits, 144 home runs and 614 RBI, earning two All-Star selections and establishing himself as one of the Giants' most memorable players of the 1980s.

The 1988 Topps #570 is an appealing addition for Jeffrey Leonard fans, San Francisco Giants collectors, 1987 National League Championship Series memorabilia enthusiasts, vintage Topps baseball card collectors or those assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
