Jeff Russell Autographed 1984 Topps Nestle #270 Cincinnati Reds Card

Featuring Jeff Russell with the Cincinnati Reds, this Jeff Russell autographed 1984 Topps Nestle #270 Cincinnati Reds card is the Nestle promotional counterpart to his standard 1984 Topps issue. The Topps Nestle release closely follows the design and checklist of the regular 1984 Topps set while carrying distinctive Nestle branding, providing collectors with an interesting alternative version of Russell's early-career card.

The Reds selected Russell with the fifth overall pick in the 1979 MLB Draft. He made his Major League debut with Cincinnati in 1983, appearing in 20 games and working primarily as a starting pitcher during the early portion of his career.

Russell was traded to the Texas Rangers during the 1985 season, where he eventually made a successful transition from the starting rotation to the bullpen. His breakthrough as a closer came in 1989, when he posted a 1.98 ERA and led the American League with 38 saves in 71 appearances. The performance earned Russell his first All-Star selection and a sixth-place finish in American League Cy Young Award voting.

Russell remained a successful late-inning reliever throughout much of the following decade and earned a second All-Star selection with Texas in 1994. He also pitched for the Oakland Athletics, Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians before returning to the Rangers for the final portion of his career.

Over 14 Major League seasons, Russell recorded 186 saves and 693 strikeouts in 589 appearances. The 1984 Topps Nestle #270 is an appealing addition for Reds collectors, Jeff Russell fans, Topps Nestle collectors, 1980s promotional-card collections or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
