Ivan DeJesus Autographed 1982 Donruss #48 Chicago Cubs Card

Featuring Ivan DeJesus with the Chicago Cubs, this Ivan DeJesus autographed 1982 Donruss #48 Chicago Cubs card showcases the veteran shortstop near the conclusion of his tenure in Chicago, where he established himself as a dependable everyday infielder during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

A native of Puerto Rico, DeJesus signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers as an amateur free agent in 1969 and made his Major League debut in 1974. He joined the Chicago Cubs prior to the 1977 season as part of a trade that sent Rick Monday to Los Angeles, beginning a productive five-year stretch as Chicago's regular shortstop.

DeJesus immediately became an important part of the Cubs lineup, combining speed, defensive ability and consistency at the plate. In 1977, he appeared in all 162 games, collecting 150 hits and stealing 24 bases while helping Chicago remain competitive in the National League East.

One of his finest offensive seasons came in 1978, when he batted .278 with 174 hits, 31 doubles and 41 stolen bases. His speed made him a valuable presence near the top of the batting order, while his durability and defensive versatility helped anchor the Cubs infield.

DeJesus continued as Chicago's primary shortstop through the 1981 season. In January 1982, the Cubs traded him to the Philadelphia Phillies in a deal that brought future Hall of Fame shortstop Larry Bowa and young infielder Ryne Sandberg to Chicago. That transaction became one of the most significant trades in Cubs franchise history.

DeJesus went on to play for the Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants, completing a 15-season Major League career. He finished with more than 1,100 hits and 190 stolen bases, establishing himself as a reliable middle infielder throughout his career.

The 1982 Donruss #48 is an appealing addition for Chicago Cubs collectors, Ivan DeJesus fans, Puerto Rican baseball collections, vintage Donruss enthusiasts or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
