Gene Nelson Autographed 1992 Topps Gold Winner #62 Oakland Athletics Card

Featuring Gene Nelson with the Oakland Athletics, this Gene Nelson autographed 1992 Topps Gold Winner #62 Oakland Athletics card is a distinctive parallel from the first year of Topps Gold. The Gold Winner version features gold-foil player identification along with the special Winner designation, distinguishing it from both the standard 1992 Topps #62 and the regular Topps Gold version.

Nelsons Major League playing career concluded with Oakland in 1991, making this 1992 release a final-career card issue. He had joined the Athletics in 1987 and became an important member of a deep pitching staff that reached the World Series in three consecutive seasons.

Nelson enjoyed his finest individual season in 1989, going 9-6 with an outstanding 1.57 ERA in 65 appearances. He allowed only 55 hits over 92 innings as Oakland captured its second consecutive American League pennant and swept the San Francisco Giants to win the World Series.

The Athletics also captured American League championships in 1988 and 1990, giving Nelson three consecutive World Series appearances. His ability to handle a variety of pitching roles was a hallmark of a 13-season Major League career that began as a starter before he developed into a highly effective reliever.

Nelson appeared in more than 600 Major League games with the Yankees, Mariners, White Sox and Athletics. Combining a final-career Oakland issue with one of the notable parallels from the 1992 Topps release, the Topps Gold Winner #62 is an appealing addition for Athletics collectors, Gene Nelson fans, Topps Gold collectors, 1989 World Series collections or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
