He contributed to a memorable club featuring Ken Griffey Jr., Edgar Martinez, Randy Johnson and Jay Buhner and appeared in both the AL Division Series against the Yankees and the AL Championship Series against Cleveland.

Fermin played 10 Major League seasons with the Pirates, Indians, Mariners and Cubs, finishing with more than 700 career hits.
