Featuring Dwight Gooden with the New York Mets, this Dwight Gooden autographed 1991 Studio #204 New York Mets card comes from the inaugural Studio baseball set, a distinctive release known for its portrait-style photography and player-focused presentation. The design is particularly fitting for one of the most recognizable pitchers of the 1980s and early 1990s.

Known as Doc and Dr. K, Gooden reached the Major Leagues with the Mets in 1984 at just 19 years old. He immediately became one of baseball's dominant pitchers, going 17-9 with a 2.60 ERA and a National League-leading 276 strikeouts to earn an All-Star selection and the NL Rookie of the Year Award.

Gooden's remarkable 1985 season remains one of the great pitching performances of his era. He finished 24-4 with a 1.53 ERA, 268 strikeouts and 16 complete games, leading the National League in wins, ERA and strikeouts to capture the pitching Triple Crown. He was unanimously selected as the National League Cy Young Award winner.

In 1986, Gooden won 17 games as the Mets captured the World Series championship, and he remained a fixture in the New York rotation for the next several seasons. He entered 1991 having already recorded five seasons with at least 15 victories and four seasons with 200 or more strikeouts.

A four-time All-Star, Gooden finished his 16-season Major League career with 194 victories and 2,293 strikeouts. He later pitched a no-hitter for the New York Yankees in 1996 and earned World Series rings with the Yankees in 1996 and 2000. The 1991 Studio #204 is an appealing addition for Mets collectors, Dwight Gooden fans, 1986 World Series championship collections or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
