The 1991 Kahn's Cincinnati Reds Chris Hammond #NNO is a distinctive regional and stadium-giveaway issue featuring the young left-handed pitcher with the Cincinnati Reds. Personally autographed by Hammond, this card offers considerably different collecting appeal from his nationally distributed Topps, Donruss, Fleer, Score and Upper Deck issues of the era.

Kahn's has a long history with Cincinnati sports and produced numerous Reds baseball card sets distributed locally to fans. These team-oriented promotional releases have become popular with Reds team collectors and collectors of regional and oddball baseball cards, particularly because they fall outside the traditional annual card sets.

Hammond was still near the beginning of his Major League career when this card was produced. The Cincinnati Reds selected him in the sixth round of the 1986 MLB Draft following his collegiate career at the University of Alabama. After advancing through the Reds' farm system, he made his Major League debut on July 16, 1990.

His arrival came during Cincinnati's memorable 1990 season. Hammond made seven Major League starts that year as the Reds went wire-to-wire in first place and ultimately swept the Oakland Athletics to capture the 1990 World Series championship.

The 1991 Kahn's issue is particularly appealing for a comprehensive Hammond or Cincinnati collection because its regional distribution separates it from his standard early-career cards. The NNO designation indicates that the card is unnumbered, another characteristic frequently encountered with promotional and team-issued cards.

Hammond later became a regular starting pitcher for the Florida Marlins and won a career-high 15 games in 1993, the expansion franchise's inaugural season. His career would eventually feature an extraordinary second act after several years away from Major League Baseball.

Returning with the Atlanta Braves in 2002 at age 36, Hammond went 7-2 with a remarkable 0.95 ERA in 63 relief appearances, allowing just seven earned runs over 76 innings. His comeback extended his Major League career through 2006.
