Bob Boone Autographed 1985 Fleer #295 California Angels Card

Featuring one of the premier defensive catchers of his generation, this Bob Boone autographed 1985 Fleer #295 California Angels card captures the veteran backstop during his successful tenure with the Angels. Boone joined California in 1982 after spending the first decade of his Major League career with the Philadelphia Phillies and immediately provided the Angels with veteran leadership and outstanding defense behind the plate.

Boone helped the Angels capture the American League West title in 1982, his first season with the club. He caught 155 games that year and earned a Gold Glove Award, beginning a remarkable stretch in which he continued to handle one of baseballs most demanding positions well into his 30s.

Defense was the hallmark of Boones career. He earned seven Gold Glove Awards, including four during his years with California, and became known for his durability, game-calling and ability to work with pitching staffs. He was also a four-time All-Star during his lengthy Major League career.

Before joining the Angels, Boone was a central figure on several successful Phillies teams. He helped Philadelphia win three consecutive National League East titles from 1976 through 1978 and was the starting catcher for the 1980 World Series champions, the first championship team in Phillies franchise history. With California, he later helped the Angels win another division title in 1986 and advance to within one victory of their first World Series appearance.

Boone played 19 Major League seasons with the Phillies, Angels and Kansas City Royals, catching 2,225 games and collecting 1,838 career hits. His baseball legacy continued through sons Bret and Aaron Boone, who both became Major League players. The 1985 Fleer #295 is an appealing addition for Angels collectors, Bob Boone fans, Gold Glove collections, catching collections or collectors assembling comprehensive autographed player runs.
