Amalio Carreno Autographed 1992 Score #867 Philadelphia Phillies Card
Featuring right-handed pitcher Amalio Carreno with Philadelphia, this Amalio Carreno autographed 1992 Score #867 Philadelphia Phillies card represents a brief Major League career and an interesting name from the Phillies organization of the early 1990s.
A native of Venezuela, Carreno originally signed professionally with the New York Yankees organization before being selected by Philadelphia in the 1989 Rule 5 Draft. He made his Major League debut with the Phillies on April 7, 1991, beginning what would be his only season in the majors.
Carreno worked primarily out of the Philadelphia bullpen in 1991, appearing in 28 games and making one start. He pitched 40 innings for the Phillies and recorded 28 strikeouts, earning one victory during his time with the club.
Although his Major League career was brief, Carreno continued pitching professionally after his season in Philadelphia. Cards of players with limited time in the majors can offer an interesting challenge for collectors attempting to build complete team, set or autographed player collections.
The 1992 Score #867 documents Carrenos time with Philadelphia and is an appealing addition for Phillies collectors, 1992 Score set collectors, Venezuelan baseball collections or collectors seeking autographs from the less commonly represented players in franchise history.
