Holland went on to enjoy a successful 12-year Major League career with the Pittsburgh Pirates, San Francisco Giants, Philadelphia Phillies, and California Angels. He became one of baseball's premier relief pitchers, earning National League All-Star selections in 1983 and 1984, leading the National League with 25 saves in 1983, and helping the Phillies capture the 1983 National League pennant.
